2019 (Installed: 4th January 2019) Location: Walthamstow Marshes (London, England) 96cm x 84cm Walking around my neighbourhood the past couple of days, I realised how many young fir trees get thrown out onto the streets after the Christmas period. Like carcasses, they wait for the council to drive around and pick them up to convert these single use, now ‘unlucky’ totems into wood chips. I decided to go and plant mine again, hoping to give a second chance.

24nd January 2019 Location: Walthamstow Marshes (London, England) 20 days after planting my tree, I returned back to the Marshes to see how my tree was holding up. What I found was a hole in the ground and the tree now vertical, dumped into a nearby ditch. Looking like the work of no animal, I laughed at how inevitably my tree was going to be fly tipped just like any other tree around this time of the year.
